… Of MY Bones.
I went into this artwork with a very literal approach and looked at the idea of bone, the first thing that came to mind was talking about my body and my health issues. Building this enlarged version of the childhood game operation, the pieces being pulled out are actual images, MRIs, and CT scans of my body. Using cyanotypes also played a role in making the artwork a cohesive whole because the blue represents the clinical feelings of a hospital setting and the ideas that came from ripping each piece of information apart and then applying them to the outside of the game to show that those words and images do not define me as a person. The main thing I have gotten out of my health experiences, along with building my knowledge within classes and this photographic art piece, is that you never know what someone is going through. Living with an invisible illness has shown me the right way in life. Thinking and caring about others on a different level than I ever used to has also helped me in finding the right things to make my life easier.
